Develop effective strategies to promote healthy aging and manage age-related diseases

You will learn ways to improve your well-being, by changing the habits that may be causing pain, discomfort and stress. You will have the opportunity to adopt mind-body techniques necessary to develop an awareness of yourself, your body sensations and your surroundings, gaining control of your physical and respiratory patterns.

Benefits

Long-term Effects

Develop a deeper understanding of the changes to your physiology as you age by combining breathwork with movement for long-term effects. Practice different techniques to achieve better management of your physiology and improve your general wellbeing.

Improved Posture

Understand the synergies between posture and the breath and how they can affect your breathing. Postural problems, such as collapsing of the chest, can also restrict our breathing, limiting the quantity of air and decreasing mobility.

Better Sleep

Learn how to develop a healthy, functional breathing pattern to improve your sleep. Change your biochemistry and your biomechanics by developing a breathing routine that will keep your airways open and functional. Stop Snoring and Sleep Apnea.

Lifestyle & Aging

We know that aging is a significant risk factor for nearly all chronic diseases. Fortunately, research suggests that certain lifestyle changes, such as having an active lifestyle, can target the hallmarks of aging and making us less likely to develop certain diseases.

  • The older we get, the less we tend to move. However, older adults should do some type of physical activity every day, as it can help to improve our health and reduce the risk of diseases.

Regular exercise can reduce cellular senescence, improve mitochondrial function, reduce inflammation, and reduce DNA damage.

Movement strengthens the immune system, which helps to reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. As we move, our bodies also release natural endorphins. This also help us to feel better.

  • Good nutrition is important, no matter what your age. It gives you energy and it may also help prevent some diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart disease and certain cancers.

But as we age, some changes can make it harder for us to eat healthy, and this is why is so important to work on having a balance diet. Some of these changes can affect our mobility, life having trouble getting around without support, which can make it harder for you to cook or feed yourself.

  • Some of the problems we encounter with age, can make us feel out of control or make us feel anxious about our independence. This can cause us a lot of stress and worrying. Research has shown that stress management techniques such as mindfulness meditation can positively affect epigenetic markers and may change DNA methylation patterns related to inflammation and stress. Incorporating some of these practices, together with safe regular movement, can have a very positive impact on our daily life.
